We intend to encourage all pupils to succeed and excel in physically demanding activities and help them to become confident in a way which supports their health and fitness throughout their lives.
This is implemented throughout the school in several ways. For example, the importance on the physical changes of the body, whilst partaking in sport, is included in their learning. We aim that our children should be physically active every day, whether through Daily Physical Activity, P.E. lessons, lunchtimes or extra-curricular activities. We also encourage children to take opportunities to compete, both in and outside of school, in sport and other activities.
Teachers at our school provide a progression of skills, mainly through using the Cambridgeshire Scheme of work. The children at our school have the opportunity to complete ‘Balanceability’ in EYFS and ‘Bikeability’ in both Year Three and Year Five to broaden their life skills, encouraging healthy living. Outdoor learning is implemented throughout our school to encourage Outdoor and Adventurous Activities.
The impact of this is that the children’s achievements are celebrated, and progress will be made in line with children’s abilities; where it cannot additional support is given. In our school children will build a character that embeds values such as teamwork, fairness and respect. Additionally, they will leave our school with the knowledge of healthy life long-habits.
