At St Helen’s Primary School, we believe that it is important for all our pupils to form a worldview which may be influenced by religion. Children can learn from and about religion by asking questions about the world and reflecting on their own worldviews, beliefs, values and experiences. The aim of teaching Religious Education and Worldviews in our school is to help children to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of differing beliefs including Christianity and the other principal religions represented in Great Britain. This will allow the children to appreciate the way that religious and other beliefs shape life and behaviour, develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
Religious Education and Worldviews plays an important role in promoting social awareness and forming citizens who follow British Values.
